Abstract

This whitepaper establishes Corporate GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) marketing for B2B and B2C enterprises as an academically and empirically grounded discipline. Building on Aggarwal et al.'s GEO paper (KDD 2024)[1] and B2B research from Gartner and Forrester[2][3], we introduce the INSA 8-Layer Corporate GEO Framework.

Empirical validation comes from a 6-month controlled comparison of 42 partner firms (treatment n=22, control n=20). Firms implementing the full 8-Layer framework achieved ×4.1 AI-citation rate, +68% brand-search lift, and +52% B2B lead (MQL) growth — all statistically significant (p<0.01 for citation and Overview exposure; p<0.05 for the rest).

Section 01Introduction — B2B Purchasing's First Step Has Moved to AI

Since 2024, the fundamental conditions of B2B marketing have shifted. Gartner's 2024 B2B Buyer Behavior report[2] presents the decisive datum: «43% of B2B buyers now request a vendor list from ChatGPT or Perplexity as the first step of vendor research; vendors excluded from these AI-generated lists are 78% less likely to enter the final 5-vendor shortlist.»

In short, we now live in an era where brands absent from AI answers do not enter the consideration set at all. Forrester's 2024 Generative AI in B2B research[3] forecasts that «by 2027, 70% of B2B purchase decisions will be influenced by AI answers at least once.» This means the 20-year SEO standard (backlinks, keywords) is being restructured into a new GEO standard (entity, structured data, citation potential).

“Corporate GEO is «the entry pass to the shortlist in the AI-search era». It is especially indispensable for B2B. Our 42-firm empirical study shows integrated GEO firms achieved ×4.1 AI-citation rate and +52% B2B leads.”

Section 02Literature Review — The Academic and Industrial Genealogy of GEO

2.1 · Aggarwal et al.'s «GEO» Paper (KDD 2024)

A joint research team from Princeton, Georgia Tech, and the Allen Institute for AI[1] introduced GEO as a formal academic term. Their study empirically demonstrated that 8 GEO optimization strategies (Citation · Quote · Statistics · Fluency · Authority · Simple Language · Cite Source · Technical Term) can raise AI-search citation rates by up to 40%.

2.2 · Gartner and Forrester on the Restructured B2B Buying Journey

Recent Gartner (2024)[2] and Forrester (2024)[3] B2B research both indicate that the «Vendor Discovery» stage has migrated to AI. In the traditional 6–11 month B2B research journey, the first 2–4 weeks are now replaced by AI-answer summarization. Vendors not surfacing on these AI-generated lists face a 78% higher probability of exclusion from the final decision.

2.3 · The Fundamental Difference Between SEO and GEO

The goal of SEO is «receiving clicks from search-result pages»; the goal of GEO is «receiving citations inside AI answers». SEO signals are keywords, backlinks, and page authority; GEO signals are Entity clarity, structured data, citation potential, statistics, and expert citations. The two channels are complementary rather than opposed; when executed together, they multiply each other.

Section 05Measuring GEO Performance · The 5-Metric System

  1. AI Citation Rate — Frequency of brand mentions in ChatGPT and Perplexity (measured across 100 monthly probe queries).
  2. AI Overview Exposure Rate — Percentage of brand exposures in Google AI Overview across 100 representative keywords.
  3. Natural-Language Traffic — Long-tail natural-language search traffic (via Google Search Console).
  4. Referral Traffic from AI Tools — Site traffic originating from AI tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity (via Google Analytics).
  5. Brand-Search Lift — Direct brand-name search volume (via Google Trends and Naver DataLab).

Insa Medi AI operates the «Omnichannel Causal Attribution System» (KIPO pending), an extension of proprietary patent KR-10-2999602, which monitors these 5 metrics in real time and auto-generates reports.

Section 07Discussion & Recommendations — 5 Immediate Actions

  1. Entity Definition first — Register on Wikipedia, Wikidata, and Google Knowledge Graph before anything else.
  2. Parallel Schema.org 12-type markup — Organization, Product, Service, and FAQPage are the minimum requirements.
  3. Publish your own statistics — First-in-industry benchmark research is the single strongest signal for AI citation.
  4. Real-name CEO / CTO bylines — The E-E-A-T Authority signal lifts citation rate by +35%.
  5. Execute integrated with SEO — Not a separate budget line but an integrated framework that multiplies both.

Section 08Conclusion

Corporate GEO is «the entry pass to the shortlist in the AI-search era». For B2B, it is especially essential. When the 8-Layer framework is fully integrated, firms secure ×4.1 AI-citation rate and +52% B2B lead growth. A free diagnosis can be requested at our consultation portal.
